Your Tasks as a Precision Mechanic Apprentice at AWILA
Reading Technical Drawings
You take dimensions, tolerances, and material from the drawing and determine the order in which the part is made.
Turning, Milling, Drilling
You work on conventional machines and later learn to set up and program CNC machines.
Assembling Components
Individual parts become assemblies: you join, align, and adjust until everything runs without play.
Measuring and Inspecting
Using calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges, you check whether the part meets tolerance – before installation, not after.
Maintenance
You help keep our own machines in the factory in good working order, and see how they’re built on the inside.

The apprenticeship lasts three and a half years. You start with the basics – filing, drilling, turning – and work your way up to components that are actually built into our plants.
Because we don’t manufacture mass-produced goods, hardly any order looks like the one before. That’s exactly the appeal: on Friday, you know what you built that week.

Good Secondary School Certificate
You should enjoy math and physics. We don’t expect perfect grades, but we do expect an interest in technology.

Turning a flat drawing into a component in your mind – that’s the core skill in this profession.
A Good Feel for Precision Work
We work in the tenth-of-a-millimeter range. Working carefully matters more here than working fast.

What happens next?
We train apprentices because we want to keep them on. If it’s a good fit, you’ll get a contract at the end of your apprenticeship.
After that, you can stay in production, move into assembly, or travel to job sites abroad.

General Questions & Answers About Your Apprenticeship

Our apprenticeship years always start on August 1st. You can apply about a year in advance – the earlier, the better your chances of getting your desired profession.

Usually one to two days a week; the rest of the time you’re at the company. The exact days are set by the vocational school, and we plan your schedule around them.

We pay according to the collective agreement, and the pay increases each year of training. We’re happy to tell you the exact amounts in a conversation.

A cover letter, CV, and your last two report cards are enough for us. Feel free to mention internships or part-time jobs – a photo isn’t required.
