About Storage

Storage: more than a container
with a hole at the bottom.

How a product is stored determines the condition it comes out in. Bridging, segregation and reheating aren’t coincidences – they’re the result of a design that doesn’t fit the product.

That’s why we design silos by bulk material and turnover: discharge hopper, angle of inclination and discharge aids are based on flowability and moisture – not on what happens to be in the standard range.

About Storage

Round, rectangular or flat?
Space plays a role too.

Round silos are structurally efficient and the most economical solution for large quantities. Rectangular silos make better use of limited floor space and can be combined in cell blocks for many components. Flat storage pays off for large quantities and infrequent turnover. We clarify what fits for you on site.

Round Silos

Storage
Hold large quantities of a single component – the most economical design for high volumes with even load distribution.

Flat Storage

Storage
Holds large quantities of bulk material at ground level – without the height of a silo, discharged via screws or…

Frequently Asked Questions About Storage

  • With ample space and large volumes, the round silo is usually more cost-effective. Where space is tight or many components need to be stored separately, the rectangular silo shows its strength as a cell block.

  • Prevention is easier than cure: a suitable hopper angle, sufficient outlet cross-section and, where the product requires it, a discharge aid. Retrofitting is possible, but more effort than designing it correctly from the start.

  • Moisture and temperature are decisive. With properly dried product and functioning aeration, storage over several months is unproblematic – we plan the aeration accordingly.

  • Generally yes. It’s important to consider this in the initial planning: conveying technology and foundations can be designed so a later cell can be connected without conversion work.

  • We supply the structural engineering for our silos. For foundations, we work together with your construction company and provide the necessary load specifications.
